Ha Giang Loop

Ha Giang Loop was one of the highlights of my solo travels: a motorcycle journey through the mountains of northern Vietnam, along winding roads and villages half hidden in fog.

It was also my first time photographing in a chaotic environment. We spent around five hours a day on the back of a motorcycle, and the only stops were five-minute breaks. In those few minutes, I would hurry to get my shots, always searching for the next point of view worth capturing.

This series is what I caught along the way.

Green peaks rising behind a village in a valley, layers of mountains fading into haze
Terraced rice fields and village houses on a green hillside, seen from above
A narrow road winding through a misty green valley between mountains
An elderly woman weaving at a wooden loom inside a dim traditional house
An elderly woman in a blue headscarf hand-embroidering a long patterned cloth
View over a green motorcycle helmet onto a mountain road
A motorbike with two riders at a roadside viewpoint with a Vietnamese flag under heavy cloud
Village and terraced fields in a valley, wrapped in low cloud
A man in a dark jacket looking out into thick fog between mountain slopes
A pointed rock peak rising from fog-covered hills beside a mountain road
Turquoise river winding through a deep mountain canyon in Ha Giang under a hazy sky
A forested ridge with a lone tree fading into mist
